    Provenance:
Gift of Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, Baltimore, Maryland
    Remarks:
The pediment relief was designed by R. McGill Mackall, who drew the cartoon, and Benjamin T. Kurtz, who modeled the sculpture. It was created in 1931 as part of the restoration and reopening of the museum of Rembrandt Peale, the Municipal Museum of Baltimore. The Wedgewood style relief, with white figures against a dark background, is a copy from the 1814 period of the original opening of the museum. IAS files contain clippings from: The Sun (Baltimore) dated May 12, 1931 and July 27, 1931. For further reading see: H. Naylor's "Public Monuments and Sculpture in Baltimore."
