    Description: 
    A wall of blocks pierced by two portals, on either side of which are granite shelves for wreaths, flowers, or candles. Words are engraved on the blocks. The words, which are meant to express the impact of the war on individual lives, are taken from letters, diaries, poems, and news dispatches.

    Remarks: 
    Sculpture was a collaboration between architects Wormser and Fellows, and with John Ferrandino, a writer and Vietnam veteran. This memorial was the competition winner. It was a gift of the New York Veterans Memorial Commission. Cost was 500,000 dollars. Vietnam Veterans Plaza was formerly Jeannette Park.
