Remarks:
The sculpture was developed as a community project to honor astronomer Edwin Hubble (1889-1953), who was born in Marshfield and developed the Big Bang theory. The sculpture cost $4,300 and was privately funded. Community members, including ten year old William Arehart (who tightened the interior bolts), helped the artist install the sculpture. Rost Lumber created the cradle. The hull was fabricated by Midwest Sheet Metal. IAS files contain transcript of related plaque text; and copy of article from the Marshfield Mail, July 6, 1994.
