Description:
Standing male figure of a soldier in military uniform. His proper right hand is held up, his proper left hand is holding gun with bayonet pointed forward. His proper left knee is raised slightly. Bronzed barbed wire around figure's feet. Base is 3-tiered.

Remarks:
Funded by the Schuyler Home Guards and the United War Works fund of Colfax County, Nebraska. Cost: $5,200. The Schuyler Home Guards had a surplus of $1,000 when they disbanded at the end of World War I. They decided to start a monument fund with the surplus. The monument committee contracted with the Lincoln Fine Arts Shop to erect a monument for $5,200. The committee raised the remaining $4,200 needed from those in charge of the surplus in the United War Works fund of Colfax County.
