    Description: 
    Statue of a uniformed soldier on a six-sided base. The soldier wears a combat hat, a shirt with sleeves rolled to the elbow, an ammunition belt and pants tucked into combat boots. He has a rifle on his back and is holding the strap with his proper right hand. His proper left knee is bent and his proper left foot rests on a boulder.

    The statue was imported from Italy; the base was designed by Leon Richardson Memorials. IAS files contain related article from The Daily Item (Sumter, S.C.), Feb. 7, 1974, pg. 1B, which states that the funds for the $8,000 memorial were raised during a public campaign.
