Description:
Full-length figure of King Carlos III stands on a rectangular base. The figure wears armor and a draped, cloak-like garment. He holds a scroll in his proper right hand. His proper left hand is on his hip. He also wears a wig with a ponytail tied back with a ribbon.

Remarks:
Gift of King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain for the bicentennial of the establishment of the Presidio in Santa Barbara. The sculpture is recast from the original 18th century work by Alfonso G. Bergaz. It was originally installed in Storke Placita in 1982. In 1992 it was restored by Mel Knowles of South Coast Fine Arts, Santa Barbara. After restoration, the sculpture was loaned to and installed in El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park in April 1992. The sculpture's base, its third, was designed for the Presidio site by Henry Lenny and created by Santa Barbara Stone. The restoration and the base construction were funded by the City of Santa Barbara.
