    Description: 
    The sculpture consists of twelve individual chimes tuned to one octave. Each chime is a 4 x 4 inch square aluminum tube. The tubes are positioned vertically one inch apart and welded to a concave metal brace that is suspended three feet off the ground. The bottom of each resonating tube is cut to form vibrating plates that are each tuned to a note in the whole tone scale of music. Musical sounds can be played by tapping a bumper pad that activates a hammer pin to strike the vibrating plates.

    Remarks: 
    The artist was one of three recipients of Artist-Initiated Grants from the Georgia Council for the Arts. The sculpture was funded by a portion of the Council's $5,700 grant to the three artists. The sculpture was designed for public interaction and is accessible to people in wheelchairs. IAS files contain two articles from the Times Georgian (Carrollton, GA): Aug. 23, 1990, pg. 1C and 5C; and Aug. 30, 1990, pg. 1C; and a summer 1990 brochure from the Carrollton Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
