    Remarks:
The $175,000 sculpture was commissioned by the Board of Trustees of Boone Hospital Center in 1994, in conjunction with the development of the Boone Hospital Medical Park. The sculpture was dedicated as part of the Hospital's 75th anniversary. The term Nexus means connection, bond or bridge and the artist intended the piece to show the link between the hospital and the community; present and past. In the 1800s, pioneers headed west along Booneslick Trail and paused at the crest of the hill on Spring Street to drink water from an artisan well. In 1921, Boone County Hospital was built at this crest on the hill on Spring Street, south of Broadway and in 1996, Boone Hospital Medical Park was developed. IAS files contain articles from Columbia Daily Tribune, including Sept. 1, 1994, fund raising promotion sheet, and copy of dedication announcement.
