    Remarks:
The monument was erected by the Lackawanna County Monument Committee in honor of those who died in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The sculpture was originally intended for a Connecticut cemetery, but when the Monument Committee was unable to raise enough to fund their designs for an elaborate memorial, the LaCross Memorial Co. offered them this completed sculpture for $15,000. IAS files contain articles from the Scranton Times, Dec. 19, 1976, pg. A-3 and May 20, 1977.
