    Description: 
    A bas-relief circular medallion depicting a pioneer scene with a covered wagon being pulled by a pair of oxen led by a male figure. In the wagon, is a woman and child. The wagon is moving over rough terrain and has a barrel attached to its side. The medallion is bordered by two concentric circles, with a cow skull centered at the bottom.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture is a gift from the Ann Arbor High School Class of 1954, and was, at one time, located in front of the school on a brick stand. The sculpture is a recast of a sculpture first cast in 1924 by the Gorham Manufacturing Company (IAS record MI000430) and recast for the Class of 1954 by the Kutch Company.
