    Remarks: 
    Erected by the Polk County Bicentennial Commission at a cost of $3,000. Sculpture was the City of Lakeland's first public art sculpture. Engineer David Nederveld approved the architectural plans for the City. The sculpture was originally sited in another part of the Lakeland Civic Center complex, in front of Youkey Theater, but was moved to its current location around 1994 as part of a $18.3 million expansion and renovation project of the Center. A time capsule inside the sculpture is filled with items compiled in 1976 and it is to be opened July 4, 2076. IAS files contain the following newspaper articles from The Ledger (Florida): May 3, 1977, pg. 1A, 7A; May 9, 1977, pg. 3A; July 18, 1977, pg. 1B; Aug. 12, 1977; Feb. 8, 1994, pg. 1B.
