Remarks:
IAS files contain copies of the Journal Herald (Dayton, OH), March 14, 1979 and Dayton Daily News (Dayton, OH), Nov. 14, 1979. The sculpture, a replica of an ancient Roman column, was an exchange gift to the City of Dayton from its sister city Augsburg, Germany. The idea for the exchange originated with the Soroptimist International Association of Dayton, a group of women executives who raised nearly $40,000 for project. Dayton artist Ted Gantz was commissioned to create the exchange piece -- a Daedalus fountain -- to send to Augsburg.
