    Description: 
    The figure group includes cherubs surrounding Diana, Roman goddess of the moon. A man-made waterfall forms the background for the figure group which is in the center of a reflecting pool. The recirculating waterfall is illuminated at night to provide a backdrop of cascading water 24 hours a day.

    Remarks: 
    Replica of the 1912 original, which was cast by the Bromsgrove Guild of Warwickshire, England. The J. C. Nichols Company, who owned the Alameda Plaza Hotel, commissioned Bernhard Zuckermann to execute this figure group. Kivett & Myers designed the hotel and the waterfall setting for the figure group. The Alameda Plaza Hotel is now known as the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
    IAS files contain copies of newspaper articles from the Kansas City Star, Jan. 10, 1971, pg. 10F, which discusses plans for the waterfall setting for the figure group; and the Kansas City Times, May 27, 1972, pg. 34, which discusses the opening of the Alameda Plaza Hotel, for which the figure group's waterfall setting was designed. IAS files also contain copies from Piland, Sherry, and Ellen J. Uguccioni, "Fountains of Kansas City: A History and Love Affair," Kansas City: City of Fountains Foundation, 1985, pg. 267-268, which discusses waterfall in some detail and the creation of the figure group.
