    Description: 
    Fountain consists of a round basin on a square base. A four-sided shaft rises from the basin, topped by a globe and an eagle. The eagle's wings are spread almost protectively over the globe. There is a long plaque on each side of the shaft, listing names of Kearney County residents who served in World War I.

    Remarks: 
    The monument was initiated by the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. It was the first monument erected in Nebraska under state legislation which gave cities the authority to levy taxes for monuments. There were originally ten bubbling cups, one for each Kearney County resident who died in the war, around the basin. IAS files include a copy of a poster advertising the dedication and a related article from a Minden newspaper, 1924.
