    Description: 
    A somewhat abstract sculpture of a sitting woman resembling Rodin's "Thinker." She has her chin in her proper right hand and rests her proper right elbow on her bent knee. Her proper left leg is spread out in front of her. She is seated on a pile of large books. The figure's body is divided into horizontally segmented thin wedges piled on top of each other. The sculpture is white.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was designed by Reuben H. Karol and constructed by thirteen of his students as a class project. The class was created to teach students how to work out stress analysis and deal with problems involving use of concrete. The sculpture was dedicated along with the new $1 million Civil Engineering Building. IAS files contain a complete transcript of the names on the plaque. IAS files contain related article from the Home News (New Brunswick, NJ), May 16, 1982.
