    The glass, or Plexiglas, shield was added after the sculpture was installed. The inscription on a plaque beside case reads: THIS CERAMIC SCULPTURE, INSPIRED BY A/15th CENTURY WOOD CARVING IN THE/NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CRACOW, WAS/CREATED BY EVA SYGULSKA FOR THE/BLAFFER TRUST IN 1968 TO HONOR/THE INVINCIBLE SPIRIT OF THE POLISH/PEOPLE AND HUMAN FORTITUDE/CANOPY BY TOM KANE, KANE & CARRUTH.
