Description:
A granite figure of a Civil War soldier holding his rifle at parade rest stands atop a very tall rusticated granite shaft. The soldier holds his rifle vertically in front of him with both hands on the barrel and the rifle butt resting by his right foot. He wears small cap and a long belted coat with a short cape. The north side of the shaft is adorned with a relief image of crossed cannons and the south side of the shaft is adorned with a relief image of an anchor.

The memorial was donated by the Soldiers and Sailors Monument Association in honor of Wisconsin soldiers and sailors who lost their lives during the Civil War.
