    Remarks: 
    James Kimbrough Jones was born on Sept. 29, 1839 in Marshall County, Mississippi, the son of Nathaniel K. and Caroline J. Jones. He moved with his family to Dallas County, Arkansas in 1848. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He married his first wife, Sue Eaton, in Jan. of 1863. He married his second wife, Sue Summervell, in 1866. He studied law and was admitted to the bar, practicing in Washington, Arkansas in 1873. He was a delegate in the Democratic national convention and chairman of the Democratic National Committee, both in 1896 and in 1900. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and served from 1881 to 1885. He was elected to the U.S. Senate and served three terms, from 1885 to 1903. He practiced law in Washington, D.C. until his death on June 1, 1908.
