Remarks:
The monument cost approximately $275 and was erected in honor of Claude Close Howard (1896-1918), the only man from Deming killed in World War I. Funds were raised by public subscription, with a limit of one dollar per person. IAS files contain related articles from the Deming Headlight, Aug. 12, 1921; and Sept. 16, 1921.
