Remarks:
The sculpture was a gift to the City from the Beacon High School Dramatics Council. Council advisor John Laing developed the project idea. Funds for the sculpture were raised mostly through a faculty-alumni production of Moss Hart's "Light Up the Sky." The model for the bust of Shakespeare may have been actor Steele MacKaye. Madolin Johnson of Johnson Memorials designed the sculpture, which was then fabricated by her company. IAS files contain articles from the Beacon Newspaper, June 15, 1970 and the Poughkeepsie Journal, June 21, 1970.
