The John F. Kennedy Memorial Gateway entrance was designed by William G. Johnson. Robert E. McKee general contractor; Lumen Martin Winter sculpted the medallion; cast by Roman Bronze Works. Medallion was created from a portrait taken of Kennedy when he made a speech in Los Alamos, Dec. 7, 1962. IAS files contain newspaper clippings, correspondence, and a dedication program.
