Remarks:
Sculpture was dedicated to the people of Poland nearly eight months after Poland came under military rule in 1981-1982. An orchestral suite entitled "Poland Today," composed by Robert A. Moffa, musically interprets the piece and was played at the dedication by the American Ideals Foundation Orchestra and members of the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony. A capsule placed beside the sculpture contains proclamations by President Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II. The plaque was donated by the Brandon Jaycees. IAS files include the text of the plaque and related articles from the Tampa Tribune, July 31, 1982 and Sept. 20, 1982.
