    Description: 
    A memorial to Nancy Hanks Lincoln, mother of President Abraham Lincoln, consisting of a block of rough-hewn granite containing an open scroll on the front bearing an inscription. The block is mounted on two supports at either end that are set upon a wider slab of granite with rough-hewn sides.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial to Nancy Hanks Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's mother, was donated by J. S. Culver, the contractor who remodeled the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield, Illinois. The block of granite is excess stone from the tomb remodeling. The sculpture was originally placed in front of the Nancy Hanks Lincoln headstone in the cemetery around 1902. It was moved in 1933 to mark the end of the Trail of Twelve Stones. IAS files contain related information sheet from the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial titled "The Lincoln Notebook."
