Remarks:
IAS files contain related excerpts from Moffat, Charles Hill, "Marshall University 1837-1980, An Institution Comes Alive," ca. 1981, pg. 103-104, 173; and a copy of the dedication program. The bust was designed and executed by Robert Fleisch who was employed by the Federal Arts Project. The pedestal, which was funded by the Marshall Panhellenic Council, was designed by Joseph Jablonski. The statue was unveiled during Centennial celebrations. This piece was vandalized in 1957 and was replaced by another bust in 1959 (WV000075).
