    Description: 
    A three-tiered fountain surmounted by the figure of a nude boy, sitting and raising a shell to his mouth with his proper left hand. The fountain is ornamented with acanthus leaves and fine scrolls. The fountain rests on a three-tiered circular base of alternating concrete blocks.

    Remarks: 
    The fountain was purchased through J. E. Strickland & Son and was donated by Martin Rugg, a local merchant, in 1900. The fountain is functional in the spring and summer. The sculpture has been sandblasted and painted white at regular intervals. IAS files contain a related undated newsclipping.
