School-girl painting depicting a two young women, Bede Ives and a companion, standing opposite one another, their bodies turned in profile as they hold a flower garland between them. The young women wear large sun bonnets and empire-waist dresses with puffed sleeves. The painting is encircled by a blue border with pale pink drapery along the sides and across the top.

School-girl painting by Bede Ives, born Dec. 31, 1793 in Hamden, New Haven County, Connecticut and died May 17, 1818 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. She is buried in Centerville Cemetery in Hamden Connecticut. She married David Bradley (b. Dec. 27, 1791) in Nov. 1813, and they had two children, Amelia (b. ca. 1815) and Henry (b. 1817). She was the daughter of Elam Ives (b. 1761) and Sarah Hitchcock (b. 1771) who married in 1790.
