    Remarks:
The eagles look down from a mountain bluff which was part of Chattanooga Lookout Mountain Park in an area known as Ochs Hanging Gardens. In 1934 the park land was donated as an extension of Point Park in the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. During Franklin Roosevelt's administration, the eagles were painted blue --the blue was a symbol for the National Recovery Act. Z. Stefano Giuliano established the Chattanooga Statuary Company in 1931 and these eagles were his first commission. The eagles were commissioned by Asolph Ochs, owner of the New York Times. IAS files contain an unidentified article available from the Local History Room files of the Bicentennial Library which briefly mentions the eagles.
