    Description: 
    A memorial consisting of a central black, polished slab with etched scenes from wars ranging from the Civil War to the Vietnam War. Scenes include Civil War soldiers firing a cannon; soldiers raising the flag at Iwo Jima; a World War I soldier advancing with his gun held ready; a woman in combat gear pointing; a tank; a submarine; a military ambulance. On either side of the slab are two low walls with names of those who died in the wars. In front of the black slab is a semi-circular pool. The setting also includes two benches, placed in front of the memorial and parallel to the low walls, and a rectangular granite pillar with a bronze sundial on top set nearby.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial was designed by Jeffrey L. Anderson; fabricated by Anderson Memorials; and the engraving done by Tom Hunt.
    In May 1990, the County board approved the site for the memorial and ground was broken May 28, 1990. Designs for the memorial were approved by Oct. 24, 1990 and the memorial was dedicated on Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 1992. The memorial cost $110,000.
    The memorial is dedicated to the men and women of Mower County who were killed in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The 327 names listed on the memorial include 42 names from the Civil War, 5 from the Spanish American War, 64 from World War I, 161 from World War II, 25 from the Korean War and 30 from the Vietnam War.
    The inscription on sundial pedestal reads: (on one side:) MOWER/IN HONOR/OF/THE MEN AND/WOMEN/WHO SERVED/IN/ALL WARS (on second side:) COUNTY/DEDICATED/TO/THOSE WHO/GAVE THEIR/LIVES/SO THAT WE/MAY LIVE/IN/FREEDOM. (on third side:) Veterans (on fourth side:) Memorial
