    Remarks:
Gift of students, faculty, and friends in memory of Margery Reed Mayo and the benefactions of Mary Reed. Margery Reed Mayo was a 1919 graduate of the University of Denver. After Margery's untimely death, her mother Mary Reed funded the Margery Reed Mayo Memorial Hall for the University of Denver. The figure group was unveiled during the dedication of the Margery Reed Mayo Memorial Hall. The figure group has been moved many times, apparently, from its original location on the south steps of the Margery Reed Mayo Memorial Hall. The figure group was relocated to its current site in the Humanities Garden in June 1992. IAS files contain copies of articles from Denver Clarion, April 11, 1929, pg. 1; Rocky Mountain News, April 12, 1929, pg. 5; and Denver Post, April 12, 1929, pg. 12, all three of which discuss the dedication of the Margery Reed Mayo Memorial Hall and the unveiling of the accompanying figure group; Denver Clarion, Vol. 38, no. 1, pg. 4, which discusses student vandalism of the figure group; and Colorado Heritage, (1990 Issue 2), pg. 32-33, which indicates that the figure group may be a portrait of Mary Reed and her daughter Margery Reed Mayo. IAS files also contain copies from dedication booklet, which includes biography of Margery Reed Mayo, and agenda of dedication of Margery Reed Mayo Memorial Hall, including the unveiling of the figure group; and unidentified supplementary material, including biography of Mary Reed, and report of her philanthropy to the University of Denver.
