Remarks:
The tombstone marks the gravesite of Reuben Manley (1818-1842), a printer who lived and worked in Rochester who died of consumption at the age of 24. IAS files include a related article from the journal "Printing History," v. 15 no. 1, 1993. According to this article, the tombstone was most likely carved by one of the sons of Jarrett Volk (d. 1863), a Massachusetts stonecutter who, with his family, worked in Rochester and other nearby towns in the 1820s and 1830s.
