The sculpture was created in duplicate as a gift to the Russian and American people. One sculpture was presented to Mikhail Gorbachev in 1988. The sculpture was a gift of Mrs. Frank Hendler through the offices of Mr. Edward Winchester. IAS files contain a copy of the sculpture's dedication program.
