Totem Pole: approx. H. 6 ft. 5 in. x Diam. 11 in.

An abstract totem pole with three stacked clay pots, of varying shapes, the smaller toward the top. Sculptured head on top. Metal arms or dowels protrude from pots with inscribed questions, sayings and comments.

Short Pump Elementary School, 3425 Pump Road, Richmond, Virginia

Fourth grade students of Short Pump Elementary School created the sculpture under the direction of artist Lee Hazelgrove. The children provided wishes which were inscribed in clay and hung from the metal doweled arms. The slogans along the sides of the totem were coined by the children and are meant to "date" the piece.
