Description:
An abstract depiction of a tree containing symbols of America. The tree's trunk symbolizes unity; its thirteen roots symbolize each of the original colonies; its five branches symbolize each branch of the military service; and its fifty leaves symbolize each of the fifty states. On each branch is a different animal --a cardinal, a butterfly, a blue jay, a squirrel, and a woodpecker. Around the base of the tree are 200 stones collected from all over Michigan to represent the ethnic diversity of the American Legion.
