(Plaque on front of base:) Eagle Monument/Dedicated August 26, 1985/Sculptured and donated by Allen J. Haroldsen/The eagle was created from a 10,000 lb. lava rock taken from the Snake/River near the original Eagle Rock nest. Beginning in 1983 and after/1200 hours using a drill and pneumatic chisels, Haroldsen completed the/3,000 lb. 7 1/2 ft. eagle on June 30 sic, 1985. unsigned

The sculpture marks the site of Old Eagle Street. Eagle Rock was the first business street in Idaho Falls, and when it was demolished in Urban Renewal in the 1970s, a public commitment was made to honor it with a monument.
