    Description: 
    Eight posts are joined to make one totem pole. Elements and characters include a thunderbird, a Huron Indian and Father Claude Dablon, Fort Mackinac, a British soldier, the American Fur Company, founded by John Jacob Astor, an old mission church, the original Grand Hotel and the Scout emblem.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by Boy Scout Troop #527. The pole was designed by Ray W. Haack. Assistant Scoutmaster Vern Whittaker supervised the project. Other assistance came from George Spencer Sr., Louis Struble of Meldrum Tool Company, John Brogdon, Cecil Sprung and Scoutmaster Eric Silvester. IAS files contain the text of the plaque.
