Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. 71 x 32 x 24 in.; Base: approx. 61 x 48 x 48 in. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  Two figures, an angel and a child, are depicted. The child stands at the proper right side of the angel, whose proper left arm is upraised. Subject:  Religion -- Angel Figure female -- Child Object Type:  Fountain Outdoor Sculpture -- Oregon -- St. Benedict Sculpture Owner:  Mt. Angel Abbey and Seminary, North of retreat house, south of church, St. Benedict, Oregon 97373 Remarks:  The sculpture was originally located over a fountain in the center of a garden in front of the monastery. After a fire on Sept. 20, 1926, a pedestal was constructed south of the Abbey church by Engelbert Grimm and the statue was installed on November 15th.
