At the time of the Civil War, he gave us Abraham Lincoln. And at the time of Watergate, he gave us Gerald Ford --the right man at the right time who was able to put our nation back together again. (quote from a tribute by Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, Speaker of the House during Ford’s presidency) (On proper left side of base:) Our constitution works. Portrait of Gerald R. Ford dressed in a suit, vest, and tie, his gaze directed out into the distance, and his right hand holding the lapel of his jacket, and his right hand holding two folders, one of which is adorned with the presidential seal. The sculpture is installed atop a square base covered with India black granite.
