    Description: 
    Each of the four bridge pylons is topped by a freestanding eagle. Sixteen low relief eagles flanked by fasces appear in medallions on the bridge piers and abutments. Bison keystone are found at the apex of each pylon.

    Remarks: 
    The eagles on pylons and the eagle medallions were created by Carl Jennewein; the Bison keystones were created by Alexander Phimister Proctor. IAS files contain related article from the Evening Star (Washington, DC), April 23, 1930. IAS files also contain a clipping from the Evening Star (Washington, DC), July 13, 1930 which includes a photograph of workers carving one of the sixteen eagle reliefs. Goode publication contains an image of one of the eagle medallions. IAS image files contain photographs of two of the eagles installed on the pylons.
