Description:
Over 280 slabs of polished black granite, each measuring 16 x 16 in., have been sandblasted with photographs, graphs, and inscriptions supplied by the resident faculty of the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. The plaques are installed on the walls of the main lobby and four corridors which lead to the adjacent science buildings.

Inscription on black granite plaque installed on lobby wall reads: ECO-RHYTHMS/BY ATHENA TACHA/(copyright symbol) 1996/In collaboration with Professor Franklin H. Barnwell/and other faculty of the Department of Ecology,/Evolution and Behavior/University of Minnesota, St. Paul. IAS files contain a brochure on the sculpture which describes each of the images and lists the authors of each inscription. The brochure also includes the artist's statement about the piece. The artist collaborated with Professor Barnwell to create the piece; Cooper Graphics created the photo-resist stencils for all of the images and inscriptions; Cold Spring Granite Company sand-blasted the images and inscriptions into the granite slabs; and Grazzini Brothers installed the granite slabs.
