    Description: 
    A Civil War monument consisting of a tall shaft surmounted by a flame-topped urn draped with a cloth and morning glories that flow over the sides. A relief of a belt and scabbard embellishes the north side of the shaft. The shaft is mounted on a block with inscriptions on all faces, placed atop a square, multitiered base of granite on Italian marble.

    Remarks: 
    The monument cost $1,100 and was erected by the Ladies' Warren Memorial Association. It honors the one-hundred and eighty-six Civil War soldiers from Virginia and other Confederate states whose remains are unidentified and are buried in a common grave surrounding the monument. IAS files contain an excerpt from Laura Virginia Hale's "Memories in Marble: The Story of the Four Confederate Monuments at Front Royal, Virginia," Warren Rifles Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, 1956.
