Dates:  Dedicated June 7, 1939. Medium:  Sculpture: limestone or Georgia grey marble; Base: Georgia grey marble. Dimensions:  Monument: approx. 14 ft. x 9 ft. 10 in. x 19 ft.; Figure: approx. H. 8 ft.; Base: approx. 9 in. x 18 ft. x 25 ft. (100 tons). Inscription:  (Left side of base on which figure stands:) E.B.HASEWELL Sc. (Monument, east side:) WILLIAM COOPER PROCTOR/1862-1934/HE LIVED A LIFE OF/NOBLE SIMPLICITY/BELIEVING IN GOD/AND THE INHERENT/WORTHINESS OF/HIS FELLOW MEN signed Description:  Standing portrait of William Proctor, dressed in a business suit, is installed on a small base that projects outward from the western end of a rectangular monument. The north and south sides of the monument are adorned with reliefs depicting production and distribution. Production, on the south side, contains workers with machinery. Distribution, on the north side, contains workers and management with a background depicting a factory, a row of tank cars, and a riverboat from 1837, the year the company was founded. The base of the monument has the appearance of a large cog placed on its side. The base sits on an octagonal, stepped base. The monument was funded with employee contributions. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program and an article on the dedication from the Cincinnati Enquirer, June 8, 1939. The Cincinnati Enquirer article and the SOS! survey note that the medium is marble, but the Richard Campen publication, "Outdoor Sculpture in Ohio," notes that the medium is limestone.
