Description:
Abstract sculpture composed of two major elements. In the larger element, a single figure represents a classical muse and the spirit or power which inspires imagination. The figure emerges from within the sculpture. The smaller element frames a series of silhouetted figure-fragments which rise and fall, symbolic of process. The sculpture sits atop a recessed circular stepped base.

Remarks:
The sculpture is the college's first outdoor sculpture. It was funded with a $6,000 grant from the Michigan Commission on Art and Public Places (CAPP) and $18,000 in local donations, including funds from The 1989 NMC Barbecue Proceeds, Grand Traverse Construction, and Architecture/Artistry/Interiors, Inc. The sculpture was fabricated by K & M Machine Fabricating, and the base was donated by Grand Traverse Construction. IAS files contain the artist's statement about the sculpture.
