    Three figures - two men and one woman, dressed in blue collar work clothes and boots. The female figure is standing and she holds a hard hat by her side in her proper right arm. Behind her, with their backs to her, are the two men. One kneels, supporting the other, who is seated or slightly reclining, his hat at his side.

    See IAS files for photocopy of dedication booklet. Hundreds of local union members contributed to the total cost of 25,000 dollars. The idea for the statue originated with the Illinois State AFL-CIO and the Chicago Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, as a tribute to Illinois workers killed or injured on the job. April 28th was selected for the dedication date to correspond with the anniversary of the signing of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
