Description:
Bust of Dr. Tinsley R. Harrison composed of three fragmented sections mounted on the facade of a building. The central section is the subject's slightly bowed head. He is bald and wears glasses. Second section is abstracted proper right arm and shoulder, cut off at the wrist. Third section is a continuation of the proper right arm and hand that holds a stethoscope. The three separate sections represent different components of the subject's bust.

Remarks:
Sculpture was commissioned in 1986 by Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. James A. Pittman, Jr., and funded through donations from individuals who had worked with Dr. Harrison, a founder of the medical school. The artist was assisted by four student apprentices. IAS files contain related articles from Limelight, Sept. 1989, pg. 5-8; and Kaleidoscope (UAB student paper), Jan. 12, 1988, pg. 3.
