Inscription:  Lynn Artillery Performing Escort Duty at the Brigade Review Held in Lynn Sept. 15, 1842. (Lower right:) W. T. Gale signed Description:  In background houses obscured by smoke; in middle ground tents and troops lined up for review; tent at far left flies a flag bearing letters "L.A." for Lynn Artillery. Dominant in the painting are three equestrian figures, fully uniformed with chapeau-de-bras. Behind them, a file of uniformed troops present arms in front of a brass cannon. Marching from left to right across the painting is a file of troops bearing arms. To their right is a band including men with drums, cymbals, bugles, clarinets, and other instruments.
