Medium:  Cast stone with volcanic aggregate welded to a steel core. Dimensions:  H. 19 ft. Description:  Five rectilinear slabs pierced by a massive column and resting on a low horizontal base. Chinese words are inscribed into the surface. Subject:  Abstract -- Geometric Allegory -- Place -- China Allegory -- Place -- Hawaii Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Hawaii -- Honolulu Sculpture Owner:  River Street Mall, Between Kukui & Beretania Streets, Honolulu, Hawaii Remarks:  Commissioned by Honolulu Redevelopment Agency. The River Street Mall borders both sides of the Nuuanu Stream and encompasses part of Chinatown. The sculpture reflects the history of the site, where immigrants from the Orient first entered Hawaii.
