    Description: 
    Two figures of Charles Lindbergh as a boy and a man stand on a stepped bronze base, atop lower tiered stone platform. The man stands on the upper step, and he wears a flight jacket and trousers, knee socks and ankle boots. He holds a hat and goggles in his proper left hand. The boy stands on a lower step, wearing overalls and no shoes. His arms are extended like wings. The figures stand with their backs to each other. Three of Lindbergh's quotes are incised in the walkway on three sides of the statue.

    Remarks: 
    Charles A. Lindbergh (1902-1974) was the first person to make a nonstop, solo transatlantic flight in 1927. Other casts of this sculpture stand in Paris, France and San Diego, California. IAS files include an excerpt from the book "Paul T. Granlund," and the text of the Lindbergh quotes which are incised in the sidewalk around the sculpture. The Capitol Area Architecture and Planning Board had authority over the planning and grounds of the site.
