    Remarks:
The idea for the arch originated with a U.S. member of the Lions Club International, whose car toll was once paid by an anonymous Canadian driver in recognition of the Lions contributions. The arch was erected to commemorate the friendship between the U.S. and Canada. It was originally located at the foot of Lincoln Street, but was moved several years later to the Lions picnic table area on Ediz Hook. Threat of high waves prompted the move of the arch from Ediz Hook to its current location. IAS files contain a brief history of the arch, which refers to it as the "Lions Friendship Arch" and the "Port Angeles Friendship Arch," and a copy of the dedication program.
