Remarks:
The sculpture is part of a larger Arizona Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Total cost of the Memorial was $250,000 which included the cost of the sculpture. The sculpture was vandalized in 1990 when a bayonet was stolen off the hip of one of the soldiers. Michael D'Ambrosi, the sculptor's son, created a replacement bayonet. Vandals also bent the barrels of two of the rifles and new ones had to be cast. IAS files contain copy of related article from Arizona Republic (Phoenix, AZ) May 28, 1990.
