Description:
The sculpture depicts two somewhat abstract figures made of welded I-beams. The figures, one painted red and one painted black, are seated next to other on a square concrete pad. Each figure supports itself with one hand resting on the ground. Both figures have one leg raised and bent at the knee and the other leg bent at the knee and resting on the ground.

Remarks:
The sculpture was designed as a senior project at Lyon College by art major Susan Wise. The fabrication was completed by Michael Foote, a local welder. The inspiration for the sculpture came from Manet's painting, "Luncheon on the Grass." IAS files contain a letter from George Chlebak, Professor of Art at Lyon College, describing the sculpture.
